We were fortunate enough to hear from the well-travelled Mr Richard Phillipe, who told us a bit about his life and why he decided to invest in Gower Regeneration. Here’s what he had to say:
Tell us a bit about yourself.
Before I retired, I used to work in security. For the last ten years of my career I delivered radioactive isotopes.
I spend a lot of time in the garden and watch a lot of TV. I often visit the Heritage Centre and like to walk through the animal park. I sometimes go to the airport on Sunday mornings to watch the skydiving…I wouldn’t mind going on a flight over Gower! I like to stay healthy and I don’t drink or smoke. I like to travel and over the years I’m lucky enough to have visited about 80 countries.
What did you decide to invest in Gower Regeneration?
I believe in it. I’ve had hot water on my roof for 10 years so I don’t use gas for several months a year. I actually wanted solar PV of my own but I was told my roof wasn’t right for it. I also like belonging to something local.
I told an old farmer friend that solar had overtaken coal-fired power stations in how much they produce the other day… He said: ”Who told you that?” I told him I had heard it on the news, he said: “Don’t believe everything you hear” You can’t convince some people but there are lots of people who do understand that solar works.
