Energy through the ages
Through its 30 year life span, as well as provide clean energy to the equivalent of 300 households and create a community benefit fund of over £500k, our project will tell one of the most important stories of our times, that of our energy dependence and transition throughout the ages.
Gower Regeneration’s co-founder, Gower Heritage Centre, hosts the oldest working renewable energy installation on Gower, a 900 year watermill, and welcomes 65,000+ visitors per year to learn about how the community depended on the mill. Our 3568 panel solar farm is sited on an old coal mine and right next to a primary school…. the educational opportunities abound! We will be working with the school to make the most of these opportunities as well as working out ways in which children from other areas can learn from the scheme.
The more money that we can raise in community shares, the greater the size of the funds available to help us realise the wider benefits of the project.
